Turning an everyday ritual into an opportunity to care for nature.
Meet the Artist
Named after three important people in my life, I started Anwyn Skye & Co. as an outlet for creativity. With a background in Biochemistry & Molecular Biology and a belief that art can inspire and enrich lives, I started a passion project that combined three pursuits in my life: science, art, and sustainability.
After spending the bulk of my career working in R&D and product development, I found myself becoming increasingly disillusioned by the capitalist take-make-waste model. In my personal life, I was trying to reduce my own consumption, yet professionally I was helping create heavily-packaged products within an economic system built on perpetual growth. This tension started a longing for a simpler, slower way of living - one that sparked a fantasy about selling soap at farmer's markets for a living.
I made the decision to leave my job in pursuit of something new & fulfilling and started experimenting with various creative endeavours. When I realized that some of these endeavours conflicted with my values of sustainability (learning, for example, that acrylic paint contributes to microplastic pollution), I decided that soap would be my canvas and botanicals would be my paint.
More than wanting to create beautiful products, my goal is to turn an everyday ritual, like washing with soap, into a moment of reflection. Every time someone uses one of my soaps, I hope it inspires thoughtfulness about what resources go into a bar of soap, what ingredients are flowing down the drain, and the impact our choices have on the natural world.
Thanks for supporting a small business that cares deeply about lessening the impacts of human activity on our planet.

ECOLOGICALLY CONSCIOUS PRACTICES
Zero-Waste Operations
We believe that anything being manufactured or sold must have a proper end of life solution that doesn't include a landfill. All raw materials, packaging, and tools used in the making of our products are either reused, repurposed, donated, or recycled. As per the zero-waste hierarchy, we only use recycling as our last alternative to landfill. Recycling is not the answer to combatting climate change; avoiding and reducing consumption are far better strategies.
Sourcing
We only source ingredients from renewable, non-animal sources. Instead of using mined or synthetic dyes, we use botanical powders, infusions and distillations to colour and scent our products. Our labels are made from 100% post-consumer recycled process chlorine free paper and we use a starch-based glue for our packaging.
Using Biodegradable Compounds
Natural soap compounds have been shown to be less toxic and more biodegradable in aquatic environments compared to their synthetic counterparts.
Opposing Animal Exploitation
We believe that animals shouldn’t have to suffer for human gain. We only source vegan ingredients and never conduct animal testing. Instead, our products are tested on willing humans before they are released to the market.
